On Wednesday, my writing group held its last session for the Spring term this year. The official feedback sessions are closed and most of us are getting ready to travel.
Summer in Sweden always fascinates me. Everyone leaves! Everyone. It’s like a weird horror movie. Homemade signs stuck in windows saying something like ‘Closed until August 16th’.
We are staying in Sweden, though. Our summer plans include relaxing, sleeping late, petting the cat, sitting on the balcony and taking long walks to go buy ice cream. That might sound boring to you, but to us, it sounds like a long-awaited dream.
I’m also writing this summer. The manuscript I pitched to an agent in May is almost ready for submission. Once that is out the door, I’m diving right into my next novel. This summer I plan to outline the major scenes and begin writing by August. I also have several short stories in final revision stages that I just left sitting. Time to dig those out, clean them up, and send them off.
Beginning in July I’ll start a series of workshops. If you’re in the area and are interested in attending, check out the news section of my website for details.
Whatever you end up doing over the summer, I hope it brings you joy.
